NCSP Group turnover in April 2011 represents a 6.7% increase

Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port Group (LSE: NCSP, RTS & MICEX: NMTP) reports consolidated operating results for April 2011. In the reporting period NCSP Group cargo turnover amounted to 13 602.1 thousand tons.

To ensure comparability with previous periods the cargo statistics have been adjusted for the volumes handled by Primorsk Trade Port Ltd., which was acquired by NCSP Group in January 2011. Taking into account this adjustment, NCSP Group cargo turnover in April 2011 increased by 854.9 thousand tons, representing a 6.7% increase versus the same period last year.

In the reporting period the following types of cargo recorded growth versus the same period last year: crude oil increased by 857.3 thousand tons(9.4%); oil products - by 360.8 thousand tons(33.8%); iron ore and ore concentrate volumes grew by 354.8 thousand tons(430.3%); container handling was up by 117.8 thousand tons(37.6%); and combined growth across other cargoes of 95.9 thousand tons.

Group’s container traffic in TEU terms in April 2011 increasedby 51.1% versus the same period last year and totaled 54.9 thousand TEU. Container handling at the  Novoroslesexport, BSC, and NCSP terminals grew by 61.7%, 9.8%, and 101.8% respectively.

Liquid cargo volumes in April 2011 totaled 11 467.5 thousand tons. Crude oil volumes in the reporting period totaled 9 994.5 thousand tons, which is 9.4% above volumes of the same period last year (taking into account PTP’s 2010 volumes). Handling of oil products increased by 33.8% versus April 2010.

Bulk cargo volumes in the reporting period declined by 408.1 thousand tons versus the same period last year, due to the grain export ban, which alone resulted in a loss of 801.5 thousand tons, partially compensated by growing handling of iron ore and ore concentrate, sugar and cement.

General cargo traffic in April 2011 totaled 861.8 thousand tons, representing a 59.4 thousand ton, or a -6,4% reduction versus the month of April last year.
